DAV Management is not only providing formal education but has also opened Non-formal Education Centres in the vicinity of Dhanbad (Jharkhand) for the “Birhors”, one of the primitive tribes of Jharkhand.
This community is in danger and on the verge of vanishing from the Society unless necessary measures are taken by us, for their survival. Some other schools are also running non-formal education centres in the vicinity to educate the children who are deprived of public school education.
We are also running the functional literacy centres to educate the women in the field of toy making, tailoring etc. to make them self dependent.
The DAV organization provides 6% free education to the poor in all the schools irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
The DAV schools particularly in Jharkhand & Bihar organized awareness camp to literate the mass against the ill effect of liquor/handia (rice made wine) without which the poor Adivasi can not live.
There are schools in Ranchi and Khunti where we provide free education to more than 5000 poor & Adivasi students every year which are dominated by Tribals. We have opened a residential school at Bundu, Ranchi exclusively for Adivasi children in collaboration with the Welfare Department, Government of Jharkhand, Ranchi. Presently 325 boys are getting free education including board, lodging and clothing etc. It was the statement of the Secretary, Department of Welfare, Government of Jharkhand that the “Principals and the officials of government residential schools should visit DAV Bundu and see the functioning of the school”.
The Vedic Initiation Camp for the students of DAV Public Schools functioning under Ranchi Zone was organized from 5th to 10th of April 2010 at Nirja Sahay DAV Public School, Goshala Complex, Kanke, Ranchi to inculcate moral values in them.
More than 2000 students from all the Schools functioning in this zone participated in the Vedic Prashikshan Shivir. They stayed 6 days in the Shivir and learnt about Vedic Culture, Hawan Yajna, Yoga and preaching of Swami Dayanand Saraswati and Arya Samaj. Shri R.K. Saha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Central Coalfields Limited, Ranchi inaugurated the Vedic Shivir. On this auspicious occasion Principal Mohan Lal Ji, Secretary, DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, Shri T.K. Chand, Director (Personnel), CCL, Ranchi, Shri Ramchandra Baitha, MLA-Kanke, Shri Inder Singh Namdhari, Former Speaker Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha & Member Parliament, Shri A.K. Sahay, Chairman-LMC, Dr. R. K. Chauhan, R.D. – Patna Zone, Pandit Jagdish Chandra “Basu” of Panipat, Members Arya Samaj-Ranchi showered their blessings. A Sobha Yatra of students was also organized. Students carried banners and placards with them, against Social evils, Casteism, Corruption, Illiteracy, Untouchability dowry etc prevailing in the society. “Shyamji Krishna Verma Block” (Senior Wing) of Nirja Sahay DAV Public School, Goshala Complex, Kanke, Ranchi was also inaugurated on this auspicious occasion.
